Yeah... is very odd that we thought some things (like ESR ``seeing'' through walls) was a helpful thing for blind people. Turns out a lot of special cases in the code have fallen out since we started treating all players more equally. In fact the original design has just got simpler, largely, over the years. Like all good Free/Open Source Software (and unlike much proprietary software) features seem to be getting smaller in terms of lines of code/complexity as they mature, hehe.
