Of course we are not unhappy.  And yes, our work is great! :-)

Yes, it's possible to change whatever you want - that's modding.  If you 
have sound and code, do it.  I'd be very interested in sound, naturally, 
if you have/make any (though I must know where it comes from and what 
license it falls under).  This business about rapid gameplay needing many 
signals, all of which can sometimes be hard to distinguish/listen to, is 
something I'd like to smoothe out without losing the action and maybe when 
using surround later on.  Any smooth and diverse new sounds not made with 
a signal generator would be nice, so long as it isn't to add to what we 
already have (EG: warnings about impending attacks, etc., which I think 
we've discussed before).

To change existing sound, look at my ESM VFS tutorial linked from the 
Wiki.  That should give you some ideas.
