Right, when the demo starts all you do is typed connect server adress for
online play, lol I didn't buy quake either.

Hi,

I'm new to quake--in fact, I'm new to this type of game. But it interested me
so I thought I'd take it for a spin. I wish more games like this (mainstreme,
such as need for speed more racing games like that could be made for blind
gamers--although this would probably cost a lot and take a lot of time). But
that's not my problem. When I start quake and press "s" for start quake, a demo
begins. When I try and load the tutorials by pressing the ` key to bring up the
console and typing in (uh, I forget already, but it was in the manual), nothing
happens, and the demo keeps going on. I'm using the shareware version since as
of now I have no money to buy quake and I'm not good at buying from the
internet. Anyway, how do I turn off the demo to begin play? or is this normal
and there's just some keystroke I'm missing. Knowing me there probably is.
Sorry for the unnecisary rant and I'm hoping this is the right list and there's
something in the manual I didn't miss.

thanks,
Tyler
