The subject says it all. Now, after well over 2 months, they've fixed
the problem that was stopping him from logging in, but now need to get
his IP addresses back. This is causing me great problems because I
can't finish the work on AQ 0.3.0 on my own.
This weekend I'm going to try to get the stats and MAUTH (new game
protocol) stuff well on the way, if not completed. My hope is that I
will be able to actually get all of my bits done and then only be
waiting for Sebby to help me port them to Windows (our patch to the
ZQuake engine to make the video output disappear no longer works and I
don't know how to fix it).
The good news is that these are the only two main things separating us
from the final release. We expect that we'll make a few 0.3.x releases
before deciding that the community now has enough tools and
documentation to do things themselves.
I also intend to release the stats system so that LAN parties and
tournaments can be set up by yourselves. This will probably happen a
bit after the AQ 0.3.0 release. Also with this release will come all
the documentation on how to modify it, available at
http://docs.agrip.org.uk/ .
Finally, when we've ceased to be lead developers of the AGRIP project,
we'll make sure you can all use the mailing lists/wiki as much as you
like (probably appointing moderators) and will start work on the level
description language with the aim of allowing you to make your own
levels for the game.
Until Sebby gets back online, we won't know the timeframe, but we still
plan to do all of this stuff and I do hope that I can fulfil most of my
remaining commitment over the weekend. Naturally, my recovery is
stopping me from spending enough time on the AGRIP project, as I still
have many medical appointments, but we are much closer with AQ now than
we were a couple of months ago!
bye just now and thanks, once again, for your continued patience and
support.
Matthew
