The release announcement has been updated with the following very
important information about MAUTH that is designed to help you avoid
running into problems. I hope that you find it useful and that it will
allow us all to try out the new release when possible :-).

The text is as follows...

---

UPDATE: There are a number of caveats with this release that we should
probably make clear. They are as follows.

 * You need to register your chosen player name and password at
http://stats.agrip.org.uk/reg/new/
 * You then need to set the "name" and "password" variables in the
console, with the "name" and "password" commands before connecting. We
are aware that the password command conflicts with that used for
non-MAUTH games that happen to have passwords and will fix this in the
next release.
 * The connect command requires you to specify the master server you
want to use; the only one is agrip.org.uk. You will need to type
something like "connect agrip.org.uk tbrn.net" when all game servers
have been upgraded.
 * Some areas of the Stats and Servers web page will be activated when
the data has been expunged, following this trial. The player names list
had been abused by people before we developed MAUTH - they had used some
pretty disgusting player names on purpose - so this will help us stop
those people, as well as protect your identity to a large extent.
 * Currently no feedback is supplied if you get the name and password
wrong - we're going to fix that in the next release too.
 * Currently there is no way to set your name and password via the
launcher, but in the next release we'll make this not only possible but
happen automatically so you don't forget.

Please bear with us and try to help us make the transition to MAUTH. It
isn't necessarily going to be easy but it is desperately needed for the
community (all other online games than Quake have an equivalent to it).
Remember to report bugs, feature requests and, if you wish, ask
questions at http://launchpad.net/audioquake/.

Thanks for your continued support!

Thanks for listening!

bye just now,
