There is an eerily similar science-fiction novel, called "A Blind Traveler 
down a dark river," that deals with what Matthew is trying to do here.  I 
mention it here because I see great potential for AQ-like virtual 
environments.  Making maps is going to be key to that potential, which I 
think can be used to educate and enhance both blind and sighted peoples' 
understanding or new places.  I'm trying to say that this *DOES* have 
real-world potential, and it's important that we be in the loop.
