Thanks for the question.  I have not heard before of someone
successfully playing a game with the vOICe but that's pretty impressive!

By default, on Windows, AQ does NOT render visual output because due to
limitations of the way AT has to work on Windows, OpenGL graphics
usually bring any system with a screen reader installed on it to its
knees (even when the screen reader is off).

I think this is not so true of the very newest screen readers but we
didn't want to force everyone to spend a small fortune on newer software
just to play AQ :-).  You can, however, turn the graphics on -- there's
an option in the launcher (Graphics Rendering Options, I think it's
called).
