Alex, sorry, but JQ is not a single player mod.  You're running  
into a bug which came up for me in 2006, which is an issue with the  
ZQuake engine where it's not allotting enough resources to support the  
added requirements of the JQ mod.  You should find that it works in DM  
mode because monsters and other entities which require extra resources  
are not loaded.

   My apologies and this problem will definitely get some attention as  
soon as I am able to completely track it down.  I believe I've been  
able to isolate it but need to take care of a few more pressing  
matters with JQ as it relates to the newest version of AQ first.
