Hello,

Here is a walkthrough guide explaining how to install and run AudioQuake on
Windows XP (and probably Vista or 7 too, because it doesn't require an admin
account).

This is may 2010. If you are reading this from the future, a quicker way
might have been provided in the meantime by somebody else.

1. An Unexpected Party
1.1 Download the Windows ZIP package without installer:
http://www.agrip.org.uk/download/releases/arc/AudioQuake-0.3.0.1_win32-binary.zip
1.2 Unzip the archive to the desktop. (Of course, as always, make sure a new
folder will be created. Windows' unzipper creates a new folder by default.)

2. Roast Mutton
2.1 Download the shareware version of Quake:
ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/quake/quake106.zip
2.2 Unzip the file to the desktop.
2.3 Run install.bat. Install to C. A folder called c:\quake_sw will be
created.
2.4 Copy the file c:\quake_sw\id1\pack0.pack to AudioQuake's id1 folder.

3. A Short Rest
3.1 Download a portable version of Strawberry Perl for Windows:
https://www.ohloh.net/p/strawberry-perl/download?filename=strawberry-perl-5.10.1.2-portable.zip
If the link doesn't work, try http://strawberryperl.com/releases.html and
download any zip file with "portable" in its name.
3.2 Unzip the file to the desktop.
3.3 Move the new folder to AudioQuake.

4. Over Hill and Under Hill
4.1 Execute the file called portableshell.bat in the strawberry-perl folder.
4.2 In the shell, type "cd ..", then Enter.
4.3 In the shell, type "perl start.pl", then Enter. The game should start.

5. Riddles in the Dark
5.1 The first time the game is started, reply to the questions as well as
you can.
5.2 In the main menu, choose "S" to Start.
5.3 To run the tutorial, press "²" (the key under escape) to enter the
console, then type "disconnect" then Enter, then type "tut" then Enter, then
press "²" again to exit the console.
5.4 The manual is in user-manual/index.html. An interesting read for sure.

Hope this helps.
Jean-Luc
