I've tried also under Gnome 3.8 and is impossible to run the GUI. I think that you will need to maintain also the PyGUI... I don't know what version you're using, but I've problems with the official release of PyGUI. I'll try with a minor resolution. Also, I think that the full screen mode games runs more faster than the windowed games. Sorry for my English...
