Eid - 26th Ramadan 1423 (2 December 2002) Narrated by Anas bin Malik (Radhiallaho anho) : Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) never proceeded (for the prayer) on the Day of 'Id-ul-Fitr unless he had eaten some dates. Anas (Radhiallaho anho) also narrated: The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) used to eat an odd number of dates.
