Dear colleagues and friends, thanks to us all, we have had another very good year in terms of exchanges of ideas and discussions on the mailing list. Looking back in the archives of 1996, I realise how much we have learned and how much the average question has become more complex and advanced. AI-GEOSTATS is still very healthy with around 1000 subscribers coming from almost 100 countries. The web site www.ai-geostats.org is also back on the Internet with updated information and you should expect in the future an improved maintenance and a better support.
I will leave the office tonight with a miracle that arrived this afternoon waiting for me on my desk: the company printing the hardcopy version of SIC97(*) has sent me the draft copy of the book !! I still have to check out the layouts, quality of figures and, hopefully, the book will be on the shelves within the next months (I will not dare to say when this time). Then only we can start to think about a SIC 2003... I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy, peaceful new year! Best wishes, Gregoire (owner/moderator of AI-GEOSTATS) (*) SIC97 was a kind of spatial stats contest organised on the list: see http://www.geodec.org/gida_4.htm PS: the people section of the AI-GEOSTATS web site is almost empty.
