Hi, I would like a few opinions on the definition of the “nugget
effect”. The value at the point at which a variogram model
intersects the vertical (gamma) axis on a variogram plot is often called the “nugget
effect”. I have however, seen this definition being described as
erroneous, and that this value is actually the “nugget variance”. The “nugget effect” is described as the
ratio of the random component of grade variation to the spatial component of
grade variation, or in other words (assuming a model with 3 nested structures): Nugget Effect = C0 / C1+C2+C3 Does anyone have any comments regarding this? Regards, Colin |
