Sebastiano, it is hard to tell what went wrong from this error message alone; I'd have to see the commands that led to it as well. And yes, missing values may be a problem, did you remove them? Were they in the attributes or in the coordinates?

Two lists that are more commonly used to report/discuss problems with gstat inside R are r-sig-geo and/or gstat-info.
