I think COSIM was compiled using an IBM supplied TIMER routine (Fortran IV).
Here is a link with code that calls F90/F95 timer routines. http://orion.math.iastate.edu/burkardt/f_src/timer/timer.html He'll have to modify it and rename the routine to TIMER or whatever is convenient for his compiler (I would assume he has a more modern version of Fortran).
