Beatriz- For a quick and dirty you might try an indicator kriging run for each bottom type. (eg rocky = 1 , not rocky= 0; sandy=1 , not sandy = 0; .....) if indicator variograms of each type are similar you could use an average variogram for all runs; if they are dissimilar you could renorm the indicator sums for all types at each grid point to sum to 1).
To estimate the area covered by each type nearest neighbor might be ok. Robert (Bob) L. We have geo-referred ecosound tracks with data on bottom/community types: rocky, sandy, rocky with macroalgae, etc. Does anyone know which is the best interpolation algorithm for this type of data which is not continuous but categorical in a continuous space? And software that can perform this type of 'interpolation'? My goal is to map and to estimate the area covered by each type of bottom/community. Thanks in advance Beatriz Beatriz Yannicelli + + To post a message to the list, send it to [email protected] + To unsubscribe, send email to majordomo@ jrc.it with no subject and "unsubscribe ai-geostats" in the message body.
