Symmetric, unimodal distributions.
2. What is the difference between a trend and a direction of

The trend refers to first-order behaviour (where are on average the
highs and where the lows), the direction of continuity to second-order
behaviour (variability), and refers to the direction in which values at
a given separation distance are most similar.
