Did Ya' Know:
------------------------------------
The Battle of Buironfosse in France, in 1939, is usually
thought of as the opening of the Hundred Years' War. In
fact it never took place...and all because of a frightened
rabbit which dashed between the lines of the two opposing
armies. The sight was so hilarious that the soldiers on
both sides roared with laughter---and withdrew without
exchanging a blow!

Elizabeth Sydenham, wife of Sir Francis Drake, advised that
her husband had been killed by the Spaniards, was on her way
to marry another man when a bolt of lightning struck the ground
at her very feet. Elizabeth interpreted it as a sign that her
husband was still alive and called off the wedding. Later
Sir Francis returned from his naval expedition...alive and well.

The marquise de Maintenon, second wife of Louis XIV of France,
lived to become queen---thanks to a cat. Francoise d'Aubigne,
daughter of the French governor of the island of Marie Gallant,
was just three days old when she was pronounced dead and her
body sewn up in a sack to be thrown overboard. Her pet kitten
had crawled inside the sack and began mewing during the funeral
service. Knowing cats shun corpses, the captain had the sack
ripped open. The little girl was still alive, went on to marry
the Sun King, and died in 1719 at the ripe old age of 84!

*grin* It makes people wonder!
