If we examine the past uploads folder, we find that there are 1216 font files in total, representing the contributions of some 200 user accounts.
The fonts are organized into folders, one for each user account. The old user accounts have already been migrated to the new site. Therefore, it is possible to associate each old upload with a current user account. However, a spot check reveals that a good number of these old uploads do not have the requisite open license, which eliminates them from consideration. That said, I am very sympathetic to Nicolas's demand that QA be a high priority of the new site. I would just point out that "licensing problems" are already handled, in that the upload system will not accept any font whose license Fontaine reports as "unknown or proprietary." We do however need a flagging system for suspected copyright/licensing violations. If you have any ideas on what this should look like, please help us by filing a blueprint: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/openfontlibrary As for "unsufficient quality," that is obviously a subjective matter. There are two ways to handle this: 1) Create a ranking system (by the Librarians) in which the best fonts will come up first in search results, get featured on the main page, etc. 2) Discard the open submission policy. Queue all uploads for review by the Librarians. For an "open" font library the second option may not be at all palatable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Open Font Library Developers, which is subscribed to Open Font Library. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/718507 Title: not all fonts have been imported from past iterations of the site Status in Open Font Library: Triaged Bug description: where are all the fonts at from past versions of the site. we have: * previous OFLB based upon ccHost * current ccHost version * any other version?
