It should instead read:
AC_SUBST(ADMIN_PASS,[c3284d0f94606de1fd2af172aba15bf3])
The suggestion to generate a password is flawed: echo SOME_PASSWORD |
md5sum | md5sum
The following method however does work:
$ echo -n "SOME_PASSWORD" | md5sum
a2b3a791548ef459b01e0cd0c7f3769d -
$ echo -n "a2b3a791548ef459b01e0cd0c7f3769d" | md5sum
6bb27db69abac88bd5feb132364520fe -
That is, if the desired password is SOME_PASSWORD, the stored hash is
6bb27db69abac88bd5feb132364520fe
