Dear MRI buffs,
In the design phase for a new facility some questions has been raised
regarding the dispersion of the helium discharged from a quench pipe
following a quench.
1. how long does the quench last
2. what personnel exclusion zone is required adjacent to the outlet from a
quench pipe.
3. as the helium rises, how does the gas "bubble" expand, what is the rate
of dispersion, at what height above the pipe would a person be safe. This
relates to building workers constructing an adjacent high rise building.
Any answers or appropriate references will be most appreciated. Either my
search techniques are wanting or there is not much written.
John Ryan
