While we are on the discussion of technological terms below are the
definitions as agreed by the Medical Radiation Technologists Board of
Victoria who is the Statutory body responsible for registering all
practising technologists within the State of Victoria.  The Board uses the
following definitions in accordance to the Health (Medical Radiation
Technologists) Regulations 1997 for Victoria:

Diagnostic Radiography: The Science involving the controlled use of
ionising radiation and other apparatus for the production of medical images
of any part of the Human body to facilitate the diagnosis and subsequent
management of disease or injury.

Medical Imaging Technologist: A person registered and qualified in the
science of diagnostic radiography who, at the request of an appropriately
authorised medical or other health practitioner has immediate
responsibility for employing ionising or non ionising apparatus for the
production of medical images for medical diagnosis.

Therapeutic Radiography: The science involving the controlled use of
ionising radiation and other apparatus for the planning and delivery of
radiation to any part of the body for the treatment of disease (Commonly
Cancer).

Radiation Therapy Technologist: A person registered and qualified in the
science of therapeutic radiography who, upon receipt of a radiation therapy
prescription from an authorised medical specialist develops the patient
plan and delivers the radiation dose to the patient employing ionising
radiation apparatus and sources as prescribed, for the treatment of
disease.

Nuclear Medicine Technology: The science involving the controlled use of
unsealed radioactive sources and associated apparatus for the purpose of
medical diagnosis for, or treatment of, disease or injury.

Nuclear Medicine Technologist: A registered and qualified person of nuclear
medicine technology who, at the request of an appropriately authorised
medical or other health practitioner has the responsibility to utilise or
administer unsealed radioactive sources for medical diagnostic
investigations or therapeutic purposes.

In Victoria, once you are registered to practise you are registered as one
of the above terms.
