Position: Lead RMC Consultant
Location: Boston, MA
Duration: 1 Year (Contract)
Rate: Negotiable

*Responsibilities*
Lead consulting work streams and provide functional leadership as a SME in
Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) areas; ideally both Inpatient and Outpatient
settings
Liaise with business users/client managers/ specialists/product managers to
identify, understand, and address RCM process performance problems
Lead the articulation and documentation of RCM business process, system
configuration  and database changes to solve RCM performance problems
For IT solutions to RCM process problems, facilitate and document business
requirements and business cases with sufficient depth and detail to be
useful by IT professionals
Function as an internal SME and build domain competencies in junior
consultants and business analysts; Work closely with IT teams in domain
knowledge ramp-ups
Provide functional leadership in development/ package
implementation/maintenance projects
Proactively understand challenges and issues. Make recommendations to
improve functional solutions and workflows.
Suggest and validate various solution options for the requirements
Lead a teams of consultants for consulting, development and/or package
implementation projects
Recent experiences performing ICD-10 assessments and planning engagements is
desired
Must have skills/experience
Deep functional expertise and process modeling/re-engineering experience in
at least two of the following RCM domains: Access (includes Registration) -
Procedure Costing - Charge Capture - Coding - Billing - Collections – Payer
Contracting - Payment Posting

AND
Strong knowledge of one of the packages across multiple modules in RCM
domain: Meditech, GE Centricity (IDX), Eclipsys, McKesson, Siemens
Invision/Eagle, Nextgen, Revenue cycle modules of EMR products.

As a Senior consultant/Lead Consultant perform some of the activities
outlined below
RCM Business Process Consulting
Lead change initiatives from conception through final implementation
Lead functional tracks for ICD10 assessment, planning, and remediation
programs
Understand AS-IS Business processes and Define TO-BE processes based on
Industry best practices and prior professional experiences
Understand hospital and physician office finance models
Document process models with their supporting systems and control mechanisms
Conduct process and system gap analysis vs. client requirements and
identify/articulate process and system changes
Work alongside IT professionals in a wide array of settings from RCM
solution development, RCM implementations, and RCM application development

Provide consulting and functional leadership as an SME in the following
areas:
Solution Design: Drive definition of business and functional requirements
Apply process evaluation methodology (six sigma, lean, etc.) to identify
major opportunities for process performance improvement
Use data collection and data analysis techniques to demonstrate/prove to
clients the value of improving processes through the application of custom
or ready-made 'solutions'
Analyze Solutions proposed to clients: Analyze the Business solution
proposed to the customer, and may recommend changes to this solution if
necessary.
Apply systems analysis techniques and procedures to identify and document
specific customer requirements
Understand product strategy, business requirements and refine business
requirements, where applicable
Elicit functional requirements and drive JAD sessions and Workshops
Document functional requirements in the form of Use cases, Business
Requirements Documents (BRD), System Appreciation Documents (SAD), Process
Flows, Gap analysis based on Industry best practices, Mock UI designs or any
client specific format as needed by the project
Manage Requirements
Participate in traceability matrix creation and own changes
Assist in module prototyping and presenting it to partner provider sites
Create, execute and document the tests necessary to ensure that an
application meets business requirements. Also review test plans and test
cases.
Create test strategy, test plan, test cases and test data
Maintain traceability of requirements to test cases
Perform testing as needed for IT applications to validate requirements
Coordinate and support User Acceptance Test as needed
Package assessment and implementation
Lead functional implementation teams for one or more RCM products
(experience with both inpatient and outpatient systems is highly desired)
Perform product evaluations for clients across all Provider sector types
Business requirement elicitation, Package/product configuration and design.

Deployment support
Perform the function of a 'Designer' on RCM module development projects for
commercial application vendors
Design & Development Support:
Drive UI and Data Model design for development projects
Provide support in understanding of the requirements and provide
clarifications throughout the lifecycle to the project team
Research & Analysis (Outside assigned projects)
Support business development teams through research and analysis of a
particular industry, business/application domain, or client
Perform research (secondary or primary) as needed by the role
Drive creation of deliverables like Competition analysis, SWOT analysis,
Trending, Product evaluation, Questionnaires, Functionality list, Industry
news, Contacts, RFP/RFI search etc
Demonstrate thought leadership in different payer/provider sub domains
Participate in pre sales activities
Proposal preparation – RFI, RFP
Drive solution definition from a domain perspective.
Create sample use cases, process models, process flows, UI design and any
other business assets as needed for proposals
Support estimation by providing domain/functional knowledge assistance to
project teams
Competitor Analysis Study existing services in the competitive landscape and
develop appropriate positioning strategy- identifies risks related to
implementation of the project, and will advise on reducing these risks.

Project support to project teams:
Work with a team of consultants on business analysis and perform project
planning as needed.
Interact on a regular basis with the customer and maintain some supervisory
responsibility with respect to the role-based implementation of the project
Participate in implementing business solution in any of the area below
Business Process Management (BPM),
Business Process Re-engineering (BPR),
Operations Planning
Business Process Design (BPD),
Customized Solution Implementation
Package implementation
Package/Product evaluation
Knowledge Management:
Provide domain-specific training to project teams, and may mentor a small
team.
Produce papers related to a business domain.
Create reusable business assets based on research and experience. Business
assets could be Process flows,  Use, Use cases, Test cases, Test data, Case
studies and other reusable assets. Business assets need to be generic in
nature to ensure applicability across clients in a vertical and should not
have any client specific IP.

Qualification
Post Graduation: Graduates, preferably MBA with specializations in any of
the following streams (Healthcare, Finance, Operations, Systems, Strategy).
Subject knowledge in the areas of (US Provider Revenue Cycle
Management).Four years’ experience prior to getting into this role.
OR
Graduation: Bachelor’s Degree with post qualification experience of a
minimum of Six years  in one or more areas of Provider Revenue Cycle
Management (Charge Capture, Billing or AR management and payment posting.

AND
IT skills: Proficient in making presentations and use of IT tools like (MS
Office, Visio). Proficient in at least one of the Provider Billing System –
Meditech, GE Centricity (IDX), McKesson, Siemens Invision/Eagle, Revenue
cycle modules of EMR products



Skillset
1.Business process knowledge
Ability to suggest process changes (BPR) based on economic efficiency.
Good understanding of business, in Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (RCM)

Basic Knowledge of most key market players in RCM and/or Electronic Medical
Records.
Ability to link business to IT and vice-versa.
Aware of work flows
Knowledge of Requirement management, use case modeling and testing tools
(not mandatory for hiring purposes)

2. Data analysis
Ability to analyze emerging business requirements and relate these
requirements to the business and plan roadmap
Good ability to interpret and recommend the right positioning strategy
related to project implementation.
Strong ability to research market/customer focus areas/business needs in
order to provide meaningful, relevant inputs.
Ability to assess the effectiveness of the solution provided to the customer
3.Requirements gathering
To be the link between business and systems that typically speaks different
languages and thinks in different ways.
Capture (Gather) Requirements and clarify (understand) requirements.
Manage questions and open items lists and categorize requirements based on
focus
Identify stakeholders
Develop and process surveys and develop requirements based in business
events and responses
Verify the “testability” of a requirement
Identify and document business rules as requirements, identify exceptions as
requirements, and confirm
Create a requirement/problem matrix to confirm requirements completeness
Confirm feasibility, Identify high-risk requirements and list risk reduction
alternatives
4.Industry and Competitor Analysis
Ability to identify the industry in which the client operates ( has heard of
industry surveys)
Can identify the firms competitors and understands financial data
Can use various parameters to obtain information of competitors
Can compare business ratios and identify clients strengths and weaknesses
with respect to industry standards
Can read balance sheets
Has a good working knowledge of industry and competitor with respect to (
hiring activity, R&D projects, capital investments, strategic partnerships,
mergers and acquisitions )
5.Proposal Making
Ability to make quality reports and proposals by determining what type of
reports and proposals are required.
Knows how to make detailed RFP’s
Along with strong analytical skills, the ability to cover all possible risks
and liabilities before making a proposal
Is detail oriented  with minimal scope for proof reading or errors
Is able to document the needs to be met or problems to be resolved by the
proposed project
