This is my direct client opening for *Mechanical Engineer - Cupertino, CA*. This is a 4+ Months contract position. The Hourly rate is DOE. Candidates need to interview in person after the phone screen and should be in the CA area. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this opening. Job Description: Join a team working on 3G phones and other cutting edge products. In this position you will probably spend 60-75% of your time in CAD, not much design. Additionally you may lead mechanical development efforts to sustain and improve for next generation portable products. Products will be designed locally and deployed in Asian OEMs. Responsibilities include: • Monitoring of customer return data, parts replaced in service, manufacturing line yield hitters and creating innovative strategies to improve product quality and reduce customer returns. • Candidate should be comfortable with opportunities in system-level design, collaboration with ID, design/material/process development, coordination of detail design & documentation and successful on-site transfer to high-volume manufacturing. • Areas of mastery should include some or all of mechanisms, materials, heat transfer, SPC, injection molding and metal part design. • International travel, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, grace under pressure and a positive attitude are mandatory. • Possible direct management of engineers, depending on experience.
