Sr. Core Services Engineer PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Define, design and enhance a large scale global distributed infrastructure for high availability, mission critical trading and support environments. 2. Work with support organizations to identify infrastructural enhancements. 3. Coordinate with global cross discipline engineering teams. 4. Evaluate and integrate vendor systems solutions, interoperability products, operating systems and patches. 5. Architect solutions for storage, high-availability, clustering, disaster recovery, operating systems migration, software distribution and inventory management. 6. Integrate, test, and certify all architectural standards. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Strong knowledge of Unix system administration (Solaris and Linux preferred) and infrastructure (NIS , DNS, DHCP, NFS, LDAP , etc). 2. Understanding of Windows systems administration and interoperability solutions desirable. 3. Expert level knowledge of Lucent's QIP a plus. 4. General all-round knowledge of data center disciplines - computer operations, technical support, network infrastructure, database administration, and application programming. 5. Experience with the management of large technology installations a plus. 6. Development experience with Unix, C, Perl, shell scripting, and SQL a plus. 7. Understanding of internet technologies including load balancers, proxies, and web server configuration desirable. PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS GUIDELINES: 1. Minimum of 7 years experience. 2. Ability to both give and take direction. 3. Good verbal and written communication skills. 4. Able to work alone or in a team and both under instruction or to own initiative. 5. Strong interpersonal skills. 6. Strong analytic skills. 7. Must be able to organize and execute detailed work assignments efficiently and correctly. 8. Must be flexible in work assignments.
