*Title: Linux Engineer* *Duration: 6+ Months* *Location: Paramus NJ* *Rate: $43/hr all inclusive on C2C (Max rate)* * * *Basic Job Purpose:* This is primarily a Linux system administrator/engineer position with some legacy Sun/Solaris and Windows responsibilities. Supports 24x7 production Apache and Oracle web servers and MySQL and Oracle databases in a clustered environment on HP and Dell i386 servers running RedHat’s Linux OS. The candidate will be responsible for providing daily ongoing administration of the Nelnet network environment and apply a strong technical background as well as in-depth network administration skills in a complex network environment. Experience must include expert Solaris administration and RedHat AS 4.0 (or later) administration skills in a cluster environment running MySQL 5, Oracle 9i RAC and 9iAS application server. This role requires excellent customer service skills and expertise in resolving technical issues that are not able to be resolved at the first level of support. This position also requires the individual to act as a customer advocate and liaison at all times as well as mentor first level Customer Service representatives. *Essential Functions:* - Act as a customer advocate at all times including during the assignment and follow up of requests for network administration and support. - Resolve escalated support calls and customer issues not resolved at the first level of customer service support. - Provide complex security access and changes for all servers including requests for creation or modification of groups and directories or other file access issues that cannot be handled at the first level of support. - Provide support and daily administration for various server operating systems - Produce security reports, metrics and analysis as necessary to meet corporate security and audit requirements and to support internal management requests. - Ensure the server and network environments are secure in accordance with corporate security guidelines and directives. - Assist with Network troubleshooting and diagnostics - Ability and willingness to work on-call responsibilities, including nights and weekends - Participate in internal and external audits and produce audit documentation and reports as necessary. - Design, implement and maintain network software installation packages and scripting. - Design, implement, modify and optimize network login scripts as required to meet client requirements. - Adhere to defined service level agreements - Ability to lead small scale network projects. Ensure adherence to Corporate Technology Project Standard Practices. - Ability to manage demanding workloads - Ability to align technology based solutions with new and existing business requirements. - Present issues, decision factors and recommendations to management - Adhere to defined service levels - Ability to proactively manage client expectations. - Provide proactive and professional communication to customers regarding the status of their requests, ensure tracking software is updated with current information on request status - Provide leadership and assistance to other network technicians and customers - Ability and willingness to work outside of normal business hours to accomplish special implementations *Experience:* *• 3-5 years of advanced level experience managing and administering a complex network environment consisting of Windows and Linux servers • 4+ years experience with Solaris, Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP • 4+ years of customer service experience in a complex technical environment.** * * * *Training:* Certifications preferred but not required: Redhat Certified Engineer (RHCE) Sun Certified System Administrator MySql Certified Administrator (CMA, CMDEV or CMDBA) If you are interested in this position please respond with updated resume rate and Contact details ASAP.
