Job Title: IT Engineer - Middleware - J2EE / Senior (Weblogic) Location: Charlotte, NC Duration: 12 Months Targeted Skills & Competencies: Proven experience in managing software systems, hardware solutions, and/or enterprise servers, as appropriate Experience in supporting corporate migration efforts, and transitions to and from different systems Ability to understand business unit requirements and apply technical solutions which are high-quality and cost-effective Expected Responsibilities: Develops, implements, and manages standards for corporate software solutions (e.g., Tivoli, Marimba, etc.), hardware (e.g., desktops, notebooks, PDAs, etc.) and servers (Windows and Unix-based) Provides 3rd level support to IT teams Supports migration efforts to new platforms or solutions Provides engineering and technical support to business application development groups Assesses hardware, software, tools, applications, etc., to support business operations Tasks and Responsibilities: • Handle the overall engineering and technical design on WebLogic 10 & 11G distributed server systems, ensuring acceptable and consistent levels of performance through optimization; Oversee monitoring and design of tools to manage the environment effectively; Work with database systems administrators, programmers, analysts, engineering, business continuity, and operations staff to ensure that effective data security, integrity, monitoring and recoverability procedures are in place at all times; serve as focal point for applications development/infrastructure teams for developing, configuring, deploying, troubleshooting, and performing software engineering for distributed applications; Produce project plans and progress reports for management; Follow rigorous system development life cycle (SDLC) and project management best practices, comply with internal Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other compliance related processes, and adhere to change control and problem management procedures. • Designs, Builds, Installs, tunes, and provides tier 3 support for WebLogic systems. • Assist with server configuration, application development, and software debugging for documentation purposes. • Configure end-to-end monitoring or performance and availability of systems and applications. • Collects, analyzes, and manages performance and capacity data for identifying trends in order to optimize performance. • Analyzes system use and provides reports on average, peak, and guideline values for each performance element to track resource use. • Serves as subject matter expert (SME) on systems problem resolution, activities and tools. • Identifies and recommends process improvements to provide more effective troubleshooting of complex hardware and software problems. • Produce project plans and progress reports, as required by management. • Responds to direct questions from IT Management or the business on the effects of emerging technologies on product development and business directions. • Responsibilities more heavily weighted toward engineering/analytics than operations. Suggested Experience & Qualifications: • B.S./Master's Degree (MS) or Technical Institute Degree/Certificate in Computer Science or the equivalent combination of education, technical designations and work experience. • 2 years experience with J2EE application server virtualization using VMware. • Approximately 8 plus years of related experience in IT functions. • Proficient knowledge in WebSphere and DataPower, familiarity with Solaris 10, Redhat Linux, MQ and Oracle. • Ability to install, configure, test, and document software packages, including web page development.
