Is the Page Property filled with the correcet Page-Object in Page_OnLoad(). If you call RegisterTypeForJajax() outside an Page Class you have to provide a valid Page Object. 'Cause Ajax need to hook in events (OnPreRender) of the Page to register the JavaScript.
