I think that the problem is no in ajax itself.

The problem seens to be the another components in your web page.

I found this problem too:

> <SCRIPT language=javascript src="file:///d:/arquivoLocal.js"
> type=text/javascript></SCRIPT>

Your script must be pointed to relative or absolute address in web, not
in local machine.
