Dear Friends,
In this article I am going to discuss more about the pageflakes and
its framework for the developers to simplify thier web based
developments. Please understand well about pageflakes and I am sure you
guys will love it more than anything in
the world.
About PageFlakes
----------------------------
Pageflakes is your personalized Internet. You can add what you like and
remove what you don't like - and it's totally simple. What you see on
the site right now is just a selection of a few standard modules
("flakes", as we call them) that allow you to read blogs, do web
searches, create a to-do list, check your Gmail account and read the
latest news. Normally you'd have to go to a different web page for each
of those things. With Pageflakes, you have it all on one page! And it's
all free.

Once you get inside the site At the top left corner of the screen you
see the "add content" button. Click on it and you will see a selection
of feeds and flakes. Feeds are blogs and news, covering everything from
sports to finance and entertainment. Flakes are little applications
like an address book or a game. To add a module (feed or flake) simply
click on it and it will appear on your site.
You can then drag it around the screen to a position of your choice.
Simply left click on a module and keep the mouse button down as long as
you drag the module along the screen. You can repeat that with all
other modules on the site, too. To remove a module, simply click the
close icon at the top right corner of that module.
Of course you can also add your own favorite feeds to your page. Just
enter a URL (website or feed address) in the form field at the very
bottom of that add content window. Play around with the modules for a
bit. It won't take longer than 2 minutes to get used to it!
Most flakes and feeds on your site also have an "edit" option that lets
you modify some preferences. For example, you can enter your ZIP code
to get localized weather information or select your preferred search
engine.
New Features
---------------------------
Your iRows spreadsheets on Pageflakes
------------------------------------------------------------
When it comes to the Web Office, everyone is talking about Google
Spreadsheets these days. One of the true pioneers in the online Excel
arena is iRows, though. The Israeli startup has built a really
impressive application and is adding new features at remarkable speed.
Of course, I also like them because they've created the second flake
already. The first one was a little "Excel in a flake" gadget which
lets you do simple spreadsheet calculations on Pageflakes. The second
one, released today, is similar to our ZohoWriter Flake and our Writely
Flake and lets you access your iRows files from your Pageflakes
startpage.
Get it from the Flake Gallery!
You've got mail: Read and write emails right on your startpage!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dozens (or hundreds?) of users told us that they'd love to access their
mailbox right on Pageflakes. Here we go, check out our new Mail Flake!
The key advantage of the new Mail Flake over our existing GMail Flake
(as well as over comparable widgets on other sites) is that the new
flake is not only a notifier which tells you that you've got new
messages. The new flake offers much more, since it lets you read your
emails right away, without leaving Pageflakes. In addition, it also
lets you write messages.
The Mail Flake is based on the popular "POP3 protocol", which is
supported by GMail, Web.de, GMX, countless other email providers and
many corporate email accounts. Note that some email providers, e.g.
GMail, require you to turn on POP3 support first. If you need help
configuring your email account, please drop us a line. Please also note
that the flake is still in its beta version and please let us know if
you experience any glitches.
The flake is available from the Flake Gallery and has also been added
to the "Add Content" window. Enjoy
Regards
