I have figured it out;
To the end of the page (any place after the inclusion of core.ashx)
place the script;
AjaxPro.timeoutPeriod = 10 * 1000;
AjaxPro.onTimeout = handleTimeout;
function handleTimeout()
{
alert("A timeout occured");
}
