Response object that you get in callback has property 'value' that should be a type that you are returning from AjaxMethod. You should be able see the object in Script Debugger clearly (http://www.ben-rush.net/blog/CommentView,guid,b20a27b8-66ba-43e5-b0d6-4aa11c76d739.aspx)
Also, check property 'error' that will return any errors occured on server.
