I'm afraid I've now modified the code to use a DataTable so don't have the code anymore, but the array bounds were specified when the variable was declared and the items were added to the array using a for loop. I'm sure the output of this process was a correct array as I responsed it using the server side function in a normal aspx page and then also through a client side function in JavaScript and they outputs were.
