You don't have access to the ViewState or your server controls when you
are executing an AjaxPro request.

If you step through it in debug you'll see that: textBox_username.Text
has no value...

You'll have to pass the username and password through javascript:

_Default.ajaxAuthenticateUser($('textBox_username').value,
$('textBox_password').value, makeAuthenticationCall_callback);
