Thank you Roland and Victor, I haven't yet managed to trace the leak back to the root with JProfiler. It seems to have problems taking a heap snapshot on a running Actor system. Is there a better tool to use with Actor systems?
However, I believe the "messages piling up" theory. I am noticing the same problem at a different stage that is creating temporary files. I am getting 1000's of these files waiting to be processed. I am examining why there are so many pending messages.
