Hey there :-) This has been left unanswered for a while because we were waiting for the public announcement of reactive-streams https://typesafe.com/blog/typesafe-announces-akka-streams :-) And in fact, in our implementation (akka-stream) back-pressured TCP is exactly one of the examples, take a look for yourself using the Activator: https://www.typesafe.com/activator/template/akka-stream-scala (to be more precise, the https://github.com/typesafehub/activator-akka-stream-scala/blob/master/src/main/scala/sample/stream/TcpEcho.scalafile)
