I think you are trying to solve this in the wrong way. The actor has already been terminated, and then you can't restart it. You must understand why the actor was terminated, if that is not expected.
The actor lifecycle is explained here<http://doc.akka.io/docs/akka/2.3.2/scala/actors.html#Actor_Lifecycle>. Note that an ActorRef points to a specific incarnation of the actor. The ActorRef is still valid after restarts, but not after termination.
