TypedActor is not a message-based abstraction: while the implementation does of course send messages this fact is completely hidden in the API—which is the whole point. The feature you desire is purely message-based, which means that TypedActor cannot encode or express it.
In other news, since TypedActor has these flaws it will be deprecated and eventually removed. With Akka Typed we have a worthy successor considering the type-safety that TypedActor affords over UntypedActor.
