That is a BUG. Please open an issue <https://github.com/akka/akka/issues>. It's rather easy to fix so if you are interested in contributing with a PR that would be great. Problem is that receiveCommand in Shard.scala does not handle SaveSnapshotSuccess (SnapshotProtocol.Response).
