Network is network. Does not matter if something is close or far. This applies to all distributed systems or databases. Just some prefer to not tallboy about it and then you notice once it's too late and you're screwed ;-) In All we prefer to be upfront and honest about those things. As Patrik linked, we also have advanced mechanisms to help you in those situations.
