I think you're misunderstanding what Akka is -- there's nothing that you "download and install", at least not usually. It's a library, that you use in the context of a larger program. How you link it into that program depends on how you're writing that program -- what language and tools you are going to be using. But the download process is generally handled by your build tools: it's quite rare to download Akka manually...
