Hi, maybe the problem is to use sender() in a Future, try instead:

 case UpdateStudent(_, c) =>

      val actualSender = sender()
      Future[Student] {

        val updatedStudent = student.copy(counter = student.counter + c)
        student = updatedStudent
        log.info(sender().toString())
        updatedStudent
      }(executionContext).map(updatedStudent => actualSender  ! updatedStudent)

Sender is a function, and it's evaluated when the future ends, so the sender
maybe has change
