I set both these environment variables. The thing is simply that the
buildfile is bad!
First of all the ../jakarta-site2/lib directory WILL not exists unless
you actually create it yourself on the same directory level as your
alexandria installation, what it's being referenced for in the buildfile
is a mistery to me. Ant will not even be able to parse the build file
because it references a property in two places that has never been
created! The property name is "build.classpath" but the property that
is actually created is "build-classpath". I don't quite understand how
the main buildfile can be in such a bad shape in the CVS repository...
it simply does not work!
We've been looking into using Alexandria here in my company as a sort of
a project management system. I've been an advocator of many Jakarta
projects and we've used some with great success (Ant, Tomcat). Others
we are looking at (Log4j, Alexandria) and seeing something like this (a
project that just does not compile) really doesn't help when I'm trying
to convince my bosses that an open source project is something we should
be looking at.
I think a moment to fix up the buildfile and create some documentation
about setting up Alexandria will do much for the Alexandria project.
On a more positive note ;o) thanks for a great project that may do great
things for my company (since I've gotten it to compile... I'm still
working on the setup ;o).
