I don't know why I'm wasting my bandwidth on this, but,...

Latka is not relying on the user to provide the DTD. This is a publicly 
available DTD provided by Oasis for the particular version of DocBook, 
it's *the* DTD for DocBook. But then again, you'd know that if you were 
trying to help.

Have you lost it? Maven is not involved in this problem. I don't 
understand what your fixation is with Maven. I'm trying to fix a 
Gump/Latka problem here.
