At some point, but right now it has become impossible to do again
because of circular dependencies.  commons-graph and werkz (needed to
build jelly) depend on Maven as far as I can tell.

I would do as soon as I see a single Gump run that has successfully
built Maven in the first place.  So far we haven't been there because
either dependencies of Maven have been broken or new dependencies have
popped up and required Maven to build them.

Gump works quite successfully for those Mavenized packages, that
you've provided a vanilla Ant build file and a Gump descriptor for,
BTW (you being dIon and James in the first place).
