The "output directory" is something optional and its structure may not
appeal to Maven.

Yes, I was expecting that.  Ant usually assumes the same but added the
build.sysclasspath property to make it possible to revert that
assumption.  If we leave it in place, the whole point of Gump would
get lost - and mavenized projects would losse the early heads up for
upcoming changes in projects they depend upon.

No general problem with me, it depends on the details.
