Back in the 1970's people started complained about exhaust fumes.  Alfa said
in a technical bulletin that the answer was to put back the "down turned
exhaust tip" that customers were cutting off because they didn't like the
looks of it (maybe reminded them of the down turned chrome tip their father
put on his 56 Ford).  It was not needed on Duetto's, so what is the issue?
The "cam tail" on post Duetto Alfas creates a low pressure area near the
rear bumper, so the down turned tip was added in 1971.
