We also had an extremely stiff clutch pedal years ago on one of the Milanos.
My memory is of a "false pivot" condition where the clutch fork was riding
on the opening in the bell housing, changing the mechanical ratio and making
it very hard to depress the clutch. The accursed pivot ball had probably
broken or the clutch fork had come off the ball. This can be viewed through
the opening, and the part can be removed through this same opening using the
smallest size vice grip. The fractured loose part can be retrieved with a
flexible magnetic wand. Replacement is easier if you file a hex on the end
of the new pivot ball since it only comes with two flats on the end.
Whatever you do, do not cross thread the new pivot ball. Ask me how I
know...

very stiff pedal could be a couple of other things....
1. when you pulled the slave is possible the fork fell off or was
incorrectly placed on the throw out bearing - partially.
2. perhaps issue w the "pivot ball stud" - have no idea what is
properly called - there is a stud screwed into the box with a ball
end - this is the point the fork pivots on. these usually break off
when they fail, but am sure there are a host of ways this can
manifest....usually a good idea to grease the fork where it rests on
the ball.....
good luck chasing it down.
btw, did you get the V6 slave or the spider "alternative"??

Subject: [alfa] Milano Clutch MC Replacement
My thanks to everyone who offered suggestions and encouragement when I
attempted to replace the Clutch Master Cylinder. I could not have done it
alone. FYI, I also replaced the slave at the same time. It was a unique
experience , including bleeding.
Now my new problem b the clutch pedal is very, very firm. I suspect a
problem with the clutch itself. Ibm concerned that if I drive the Milano
in
this condition, Ibll eventually blow the Seals in MC due to high pressure
in
the hydraulic circuit. I suspect that this caused the initial MC failure.
Has anyone else experienced a ultra firm pedal and what was the fix. Much
Thanks
