Yup, common problem.

As I recall you need to bend either the arm on the latch or the part it pushes on slightly so that the outer handle doesn't need to move as far to open the door.

Periodically the outside door handle of my '82 Spider gets stuck with the pull extended out and the latch mechanism unusable from the outside of the car. When this happens the mechanism works normally from the inside of the car. The latch works by a 'C' shaped knuckle attached to the outside handle pushing against a small flat piece of metal which is part of the latching mechanism on the thickness of the door which engages that part of the latch mechanism on the door jam itself to keep the door closed. When the handle gets stuck extended out, the flat piece of metal gets caught in the 'C' shaped knuckle that is part of the outside door handle. So far I have not figured a way to prevent this from happening. Is this familiar with anyone and, if so, does
anybody have a fix or solution?

Thanks very much!
