Abailabil late 2009??? For my part, I have to say that the 159 turbo diesel I rented and drove all over southern Italy in May was quite entertaining. The power was fine for a road car, and on all the twisty mountain roads I was on -- and there were a lot, primarily in the area around Monte Cassino and to the west in the Volturno valley -- it never felt porky. I would buy a 159 when and if they come here, and if I'm able to afford it. At $60K that might not be possible, though. In the meantime, I got a Mazdaspeed 3. I sort of pretend it's a 147 GTA. Availabil late 2009??? But it is an Alfa and if we expect the marque to be supported WE should support it . As a Lancia enthusiast, I bought a Berlina and an HPE when they were available. Not authentic Lancias, but nevertheless, they were the only Lancias imported since the Fulvias in 1969 and this was in 1976. Alfas were never cheap cars. When Porches were $ $4,000 Alfas were $ 4,600 in the late '50s. If we love these cars, we should buy a new one if we hope to see this marque continued in N. America. But from what I've heard, this MSN piece was wildly optimistic. The model year that evidence seems to be pointing to is 2012, not 2010. But keep a sharp ear for that press conference next week, I think it iwll be Nov. 4. My bet is Fiat 500 in 2010, other Fiat models in 2011, and Alfa in 2012. But fingers crossed because the announcement is not as of yet guaranteed to include Alfa. Here's hoping! Diana Just came running in to show me: http://editorial.autos.msn.com/listarticle.aspx?cp-documentid=1068789 Is this an October fools article 159 based spider , sedan and coupe?? Anyone know anything? Best Wishes, Bernie nd so it sez: 2010 Alfa Romeo Spider or those of you who remember Alfa Romeo for its fun little onvertibles, meet the new Spider. Based on the same platform as both he 159 and the Brera Coupe, you can expect similar handling and erformance out of this relatively small Italian drop-top. Power hould come from either the direct-injection 3.2-liter V6 mentioned bove or a fuel-thrifty 2.2-liter 4-cylinder engine, which will robably be more fuel efficient. Rumor has it that there may be a ore potent performance model, called the GTA, available in the nited States as well. vailability: Late 2009 rice: Starts at around $44,000 Yikes! Now convertibles will be called GTA's eh? Pehaps it's all just ad copy being traded around too aggressively, or more likely ) just artifacts from Windoze 7.... :) - - eff clark 2 Spider Veloce 9 BMW R1100S [email protected] - - o be removed from alfa, see http://www.digest.net/bin/digest-subs.cgi r email "unsubscribe alfa" to [email protected] ------------------------------ End of alfa-digest V10 #2131 **************************** -- to be removed from alfa, see http://www.digest.net/bin/digest-subs.cgi or email "unsubscribe alfa" to [email protected]
